Hey everyone, it's been a pretty busy week and a half since I last emailed. Can't believe I'm saying it, but I'm starting to miss the MTC. It was a simpler time... hahaha. The flight wasn't actually too bad. Luckily I sat next to the window on the flight from SLC to LAX and I loved watching out the window. The longer 14 hour flight I sat in the middle of the plane and luckily I was able to sleep until we had about 2 hours to go. Some parts were pretty stressful, like getting to the airport and getting around because I was responsible for 5 other missionaries, 3 of which didn't speak a lot of English. We got to Brisbane at about 6 in the morning so it wasn't too hot yet. Most of the day we just spent at the Mission Office, and everyone there was trying to be nice, but honestly after all the intense flying and time change I was exhausted and didn't really want to talk but I made sure I didn't come off as rude to anyone. We also went to the mission home and met our new companions and the mission president. He's pretty great. I got a little bit of time to go back to our apartment (here they really only call them flats) and get settled, but then we spent a few hours of the evening going out and visiting some less active members and investigators. We had dinner with a less active family and it was pretty good. Didn't take any time at all to adjust to the jet lag. For some reason that's never had a really big effect on me. Oh yeah, and I don't have any pictures because they won't let us use cameras while we're out proselyting, which is pretty much all the time. It's okay though because there's hasn't been much to see except some cool rainbow birds and some ibis birds. Apparently the magpies here divebomb people so we have to watch out for those. Shoot, I'm running out of time. Every day is like a spiritual roller coaster. It usually starts out on a low, because I'm not focused on the work for the day so I'm often thinking of the kind of stuff I miss from home. But then I start to get better when I start thinking about how I'm going to teach and testify to people. But then it goes down again when people aren't home for our appointments or people don't want to hear our message. And so on. Overall the people here are really nice. There's a few Australians we teach, but either half or even most of our investigators/less actives are Islanders (Samoan, Tongan, etc). They're really cool people. It's funny because less active people here have strong testimonies and real faith but they just don't feel like coming to church. We don't have too many non member investigators so we've done a lot of door to door knocking. We have a few potential appointments lined up this week so we'll see how those go. I keep telling myself to remember that everyone had a hard time the first few months so I'm really banking on what other people have said about the mission going by fast once it gets going. Ok well I only have a couple minutes left. Haven't had any vegemite. Haven't seen any kangaroos or koalas or anything like that. I miss all of you and just keep keeping the faith, the people in the ward here have really inspired me. Talk to you later.
