first week in the new area Park Ridge, Logan
Man, so this has been an interesting week. It's weird not being isolated anymore. It's hard to explain but it's a totally different feeling being so close to people again. Even seeing how many members and being so close to other missionaries is a weird thing. Weird.
This area's awesome though. Serving up in far north queensland is the promised land but serving in Logan zone is the baptizing land. We've already got a couple baptismal dates and set another one last week.
One of the coolest things is that we started teaching a part member family in my first area, and while I was in my second area they continued to take the lessons and then moved to Park Ridge and the girlfriend got set on baptismal date, and now I got transferred here so it's awesome to be able to continue teaching one of my investigators from my first area!
Wednesday we took Elder Ray (we share a 4 way flat) to pick up his new missionary. Got to see Elder Banks, my second companion, for the first time since I got transferred up north 7 months ago. What a guy. He's awesome.
Saturday a youth went out with us pretty much all day. His name is Patrick and he only got baptized a couple years ago but he is so solid. He loves going out with the missionaries and he has heaps of friends at school that he talks about the gospel with. One of those friends, Chom, got baptized a couple months ago, and now his younger sister Stacey wants to be baptized as well! We set her on baptismal date. We also set an appointment with one of Patrick's other friends. What a productive area.
Sunday we had stake conference. The stake president is really missionary focused so that's what a lot of the talks centered around. However a couple of the talks went waaaaaay over time from RMs reminiscing a little to much so we ended up singing the intermediate hymn like 20 minutes before the session was over. The mission president and his wife and the temple president and his wife has to cut their talks to 1 or 2 minutes to give the stake president enough time to talk but even he only got 5 or so minutes to speak.
So yeah, this area is pretty awesome. Elder Malobago is good too. He used to be super dodgy but he's done a lot of repenting and so now he's really committed to work hard and focus. Hope you have an interesting week!
